UValue

Developed by two professors from leading US business schools, uValue is a corporate valuation app. The app aids in valuing businesses through rigorous conceptual frameworks, providing practical and widely-used tools. Users can assess firms utilizing the ‘weighted average cost of capital’ (WACC, or 'cost of capital') approach, the ‘adjusted present value’ (APV) approach, the ‘dividend growth model’ (DGM), or real option valuation (ROV) techniques. Additionally, the app offers a collection of calculators for valuing bonds, annuities, and perpetuities, as well as computing cost of capital, forecasting exchange rates, lever/unlever betas, and more.

Created collaboratively by Professor Aswath Damodaran at the Stern School of Business and Professor Anant Sundaram at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, two scholars with extensive teaching, advising, consulting, and research background in business valuation.

The app is provided free of charge to provide individuals interested in performing thorough valuations access to self-contained, fully-functional tools. Recognizing that inadequate valuations often lead to poor investment decisions, uValue is primarily educational in nature. It comes equipped with three key features: explanatory pop-up boxes for each input or concept, a uValue Companion serving as a valuation mini-textbook, and links to industry data benchmarks.

uValue assumes users possess basic knowledge of financial statements. For the WACC and APV models, users have the option to select between 'Detailed' or 'Simple' versions. Prior to usage, users are required to acknowledge a disclaimer within the app.
